#CeasefireNow: Appel à un cessez-le-feu immédiat dans la bande de Gaza et en Israël afin d’éviter une catastrophe humanitaire et de nouvelles pertes de vies innocentes

Nous avons été témoins de morts et de destructions insondables dans la bande de Gaza et en Israël. Des milliers de personnes ont été tuées, blessées, déplacées, et près de 200 sont toujours retenues en otage, y compris des enfants et des personnes âgées.

À Gaza, les Nations unies ont déclaré que l’eau, la nourriture, le carburant, les fournitures médicales et même les housses mortuaires commençaient à manquer en raison du siège. L’ONU a averti que les gens – en particulier les jeunes enfants – commenceront bientôt à mourir de déshydratation sévère. Des quartiers ont été détruits et transformés en décombres. Les Palestiniens en quête de sécurité n’ont nulle part où aller. Nombre de ceux qui ont quitté le nord de la bande de Gaza pour se rendre dans le sud après que l’armée israélienne a ordonné leur déplacement auraient été bombardés alors qu’ils tentaient de fuir ou une fois arrivés dans le sud de la bande de Gaza.

Les événements de la semaine dernière nous ont conduits au bord d’une catastrophe humanitaire et le monde ne peut plus attendre pour agir. Il en va de notre responsabilité collective.

Le dimanche 15 octobre, le coordinateur humanitaire des Nations unies pour le territoire palestinien occupé a lancé un appel à toutes les parties au conflit et aux États membres influents pour qu’ils acceptent d’urgence un cessez-le-feu humanitaire.

Aujourd’hui, nous unissons nos voix et appelons tous les chefs d’État, le Conseil de sécurité des Nations unies et les acteurs sur le terrain à donner la priorité à la préservation de la vie humaine. Pendant ce cessez-le-feu, nous demandons à toutes les parties de s’engager inconditionnellement à

  1. Faciliter l’acheminement de l’aide vitale, y compris la nourriture, les fournitures médicales, le carburant et la reprise de l’électricité et de l’Internet à Gaza, ainsi que le passage en toute sécurité du personnel humanitaire et médical.
  2. Libérer tous les otages civils, en particulier les enfants et les personnes âgées.
  3. Permettre aux convois humanitaires d’atteindre les installations de l’ONU, les écoles, les hôpitaux et les centres de soins dans le nord de Gaza et s’engager à les protéger, ainsi que les civils et le personnel qui s’y trouvent, à tout moment.
  4. Annuler les ordres donnés par le gouvernement israélien pour que les civils quittent le nord de la bande de Gaza
  5. Permettre aux patients dans un état critique d’être évacués pour recevoir des soins urgents.

Le Conseil de sécurité des Nations unies, le Secrétaire général des Nations unies et tous les dirigeants mondiaux influents doivent prendre des mesures immédiates pour garantir l’entrée en vigueur d’un cessez-le-feuCela reste notre seule option pour éviter de nouvelles pertes de vies civiles et une catastrophe humanitaire. Tout autre résultat sera à jamais une tache sur notre conscience collective.

Les civils ne sont pas une monnaie d’échange. Les familles doivent avoir la possibilité d’enterrer et de pleurer leurs morts. Le cycle de la violence contre des civils innocents doit cesser.
